Retro revival travel back to the 70s with the interior trend of the year

One of the seminal trends of 2015 (and definitely one that’s seeped over from the runway) is that for 70s style interiors. We’re seeing more and more journalists requesting images of products with a retro bohemian flavour; which is great because our clients have plenty of 70s inspired fabrics and furniture!

This trend seems set to last for a couple of seasons at least, so it’s not too late to dip into the decade. Here’s what to look out for:

Colour palate

The 70’s are a tail of two hue-ish halves: bold & bright or moody & muted. Greys work well with muted greens, and are beautifully offset against pops of burnt orange. On the other hand, pinks & oranges always evoke the decade; mix in blue and red in flashes where you dare.

Go liberal with geometrics and bold with pattern, as the 70s were famous for their design clash.

Furniture

Furniture underwent a dramatic redesign in the 70s; look out for curves and spheres, and essentially, rejection of the rigid lines that were omnipresent throughout the previous decades. Egg chairs and other ‘futuristic’ shapes and styles will sum up the 70s well.
